The Annual Rodeo supporting American Legion Post 71 in Attalla brings together the excitement of rodeo action with a strong sense of community and patriotism. This family-friendly event features thrilling competitions, great entertainment, and concessions, all while raising funds to support local veterans and their families through the programs of Post 71. The Rodeo is usually held in May.
1. Where any conflict appears between these general rules and the rules governing the different departments, the special rule will take precedence. The Etowah County Fair association reserves the right to construe its own rules and regulations and to determine all matters and differences in regards thereto, including amendments.
2. While every reasonable precaution will be taken for safeguarding exhibits, it should be understood that the exhibits are entered in competition for prices, and the owner assumes all responsibility for any accident, loss or damage that may occur. Neither the Fair Association, its officers or agent, will be responsible for any such accident, loss or damage.
3. All exhibits entered for competition shall be subject to the control of the Department in which they are exhibited.
4. Except as otherwise provided for by special rules governing certain departments; All club exhibits MUST be in place and fully installed by 4:00PM, Monday prior to the opening of the fair, otherwise they may receive no attention from the awarding committees and must remain in place through the close of the fair.
5. For every article entered, the exhibitor will be given a coupon showing exhibitors name, department, division, and class number of articles. This receipt MUST be preserved and presented to the department director at the close of the fair, when article is called for and claimed. Each booth must have coupon presented before any check is paid for the booth.
6. Exhibitors will be held responsible for the cleanliness of their exhibits and space surrounding same. All exhibits must be in complete order each day at least thirty minutes before opening hour. No work of this character will be permitted during the hours of the buildings are open to the public. Incase of failure on the part of the exhibitors to observe this rule, the Department Director may adopt such means to enforce the same as circumstances may suggest.
7. When space is allotted, a permit to occupy will be given; such permit will not be transferable and no other party will be allowed to share such place with the original applicant, except upon approval of the management.
8. Advertising matter and samples of articles on exhibition only may be given to the public from booth space, or exhibit, but no article may be sold from the exhibits without special authority from the president. The right is reserved to restrict or discontinue this privilege whenever itis carried to excess or becomes an annoyance to visitors. Only advertising matters of such articles as have been contracted for the Association by exhibitors may be posted in booths.
9. Advertising by means of posters, prints, handbills, samples, etc. will not be permitted within the fairgrounds, except upon agreement with the Fair Management.
10. All articles, after being entered and until surrendered to the owner or agent, will be entirely under control and jurisdiction of the Association, and no exhibitor is allowed to remove, handle, or rearrange, improve, disfigure same under any circumstances.
11. Products exhibited must be owned or produced by the exhibitor, Any entry made otherwise will not be allowed to compete for premium. Entries must be clean and in good condition. All entries to be 1st time exhibited at the Etowah county Fair.
12. No department Director or member of the Fair Board may enter exhibits for prizes in competition with the public nor shall they judge exhibits and/or booths.
13.If it is ascertained that any exhibitor, in any ungentlemanly manner, refuses to comply with the regulations of the association, as indicated by the officers and has taken exception to the judgement of a judge or an awarding committee, the Board of Directors shall bar the person so offending from competition for a premium or exhibiting on the grounds of the Association until he shall have made proper amends and has been reinstated by a vote of a majority of the Board of Directors.
14. An exhibitor who tears off a premium ribbon or authorizes any person to do so in the presence of the awarding judge, or who refuses to accept a ribbon from a judge or otherwise insults the awarding judge, shall forfeit the premium or diploma, and shall be excluded from competition.
15. If it is ascertained that an exhibitor has made or caused to be made, a false statement in regard to any animal or article exhibited, or if any exhibitor shall attempt to interfere with the judges and their performance of their duties, he shall be excluded from competing or from exhibition on the grounds of the association.
16. No lighting candles or open flame will be allowed in any exhibition booths on the grounds or buildings except with prior approval by the president of the Fair Association .
17. The management reserves the right to decline any exhibit or exhibits if deemed unworthy even though such an exhibit may be the only entry in the class.
18. THE MANAGEMENT SHALL NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ACCIDENTS ON THE MIDWAY.
19. No exhibits shall be removed in whole or in part during the period of the fair, all exhibits must be checked out by a fair official. Absolutely no solicitation on fair grounds.
ENTRIES:
20. Application for entry should be made on the entry blanks furnished by the Fair Association and must be in the hand of the general manager no later than the date prescribed in the rules governing the Department in which the entry is made. See rule 4.
21. Intending exhibitors shall write plainly on the entry blanks the Department division and class number of the prize offered for the article they wish to enter, using the exact wording of the premium list, and must give their post office address. Exhibitors will save themselves and the office of the Association much time by attending to these directions and preparing their blanks before proceeding to make entries.
22. The Director of each Department must check the entry shown by the entry books in each division, with the exhibits presented and so marked the entry books that they will show which animals articles that were passed on by the judges. A class in which nothing is entered for three years is subject to removal from the catalog.
23. No invention or product of convict or prison labor shall be received for premium competition.
AWARDS (NOTE CAREFULLY):
In the event of circumstances beyond our control to disrupt our planned schedule as to necessitate curtailment of activities and operation the Fair Association reserves the right and the exhibitor agrees to prorate premium and prize money on basis of actual conditions existing from such causes during the period of the fair.
24. For information governing entries for each Department see special rules under Department heads.
25. Exhibits are judged by comparison and on a competitive basis where there is but one article exhibited under any class number, a first award cannot therefore be given, in this instance if the article is meritorious second prize money will be paid and 2nd place ribbon will be awarded.
26. No premium will be awarded when the exhibit is unworthy though there be no competition and the awarding of all premiums quality is the first consideration.
27. Premiums will not be paid according to ribbons but by awards shown in the judges record books for ribbons do not always mean money prizes, and they sometimes are attached through mistake or may be misplaced or lost. The judge's record is the only guide for paying cash awards.
28. A $200 limit on any person from the same address will be maximum prize money awarded for individual exhibits or groups a limit of 50 items per address is enforced.
29. No article, articles or products entered under the heading “For the Best, Most Complete and Most Artistically Arranged Agricultural Collective Individual Display” will be allowed to compete for individual exhibits of any character. This will also apply to entries in all club Departments and other collective displays where a premium is offered on the collection of articles or products.
30. One gate pass good for one admission will be given to each exhibitor for one or more exhibits. No exhibit shall be removed in whole or in part during the period of the fair. All exhibits must be checked out by the fair official.
31. Should any doubt arise as to the regularity of an entry, or any other important matter, which the judge feels incompetent to decide, he shall at once report the same to the Department Director who shall in turn bring the matter to the attention of the general manager.
32. No one will be allowed to act as judge in a Department or ring in which he exhibits.
33. All judges will be selected for their known familiarity with the classes on which they are invited to award premiums, and are instructed that if they shall have good reason to believe that any exhibitor, by false entry or otherwise, attempt to deceive the judges or the public, and obtain a premium by misrepresentation, they shall report the fact at once to the Director of the Department who shall report the matter at once to the general manager for action by the board of Directors.
34. The decisions of the awarding judges shall be final and no appeal shall be considered except in case of protest.
35. Objections to any person serving as a judge must be submitted to the Department Director in writing prior to making award, giving good and sufficient reason therefore and the Director shall report the matter immediately to the general manager.
36. Any exhibitor attempting to interfere with the judges during their adjudications will be promptly excluded from competition.
37. The judges will award prizes on the article regularity mentioned in the premium list, and may award ribbons on such articles not mentioned in the premium list if they consider them worthy.
38. There will be no one present at the time of judging except for the official judges and the persons who will act as secretaries only.
PROTESTS:
39. Protest against an award must be made in writing, accompanied by affidavits which must specify in full the grounds for protest, and a deposit $25 to the president of the Association before the close of the day following the making of such award. In case of protest is not substantiated, the deposit shall be forfeited to the Association .
40. The general manager will notify the exhibitor of the protest exhibit of such protest, and both parties will then have 24 hours to bring sworn testimony in the case to be submitted to the board of Directors. The protest award will be held in abeyance until the final action of the board of Directors passing on same.
SELLING EXHIBITS:
41. Exhibitors always have the privilege of selling anything they have on display for delivery at the close of the fair or to take orders for delivery.
PUBLIC CONVENIENCES:
42. During the fairgrounds we'll be equipped with free restrooms.
43. Passes good only for dates and times shown on pass.

Products must be entered in the name of the individuals and must have been canned by the person making entry. All entries must be from current year's crop. All entries must be in clear standard canning jars with standard lids. Exhibitor they enter only one item per class, per family. Regardless what home canned products as being exhibited or judged, it should meet these qualifications:
1. Be a clear standard canning jar, Jelly can be in standard Jelly glass. All others will not be accepted.
2. All jars in the same exhibit should be in uniform shape as nearly as possible.
3. Metal bands should be on jars and bands should be new and shiny.
4. No bubbles should appear in the jar.
5. The food exhibited should have been canned within the last food preservation season.
6. Jars must be properly sealed.
7. Paraffin is no longer recommended for use in food preservation.

The Etowah County fair association offers cash prizes on collective community and county displays to be exhibited under the following conditions:
1. These exhibits are to represent some aspect of our American way of life, God and Country. In order for the judges to judge how well the organization exhibiting it will be necessary for the exhibiting organization to designate a theme for the exhibit. This year's theme will be
2. Products shown in exhibit must be superior quality and attractively displayed.
3. The cost of materials and labor incident to the complete display is to be borne by the exhibitors or the organization fostering the display.
4. All such community and county displays shall be made and exhibited in an assigned space in the exhibit building. Said exhibit and display will be erected, arranged and decorated without outside professional assistance, following the plan of showing the resources of the county or community, together with practical educational features portraying community and home life, rural or urban.
5. Each exhibit should be organized to tell a story. Must be completed by 3:00 pm Tuesday prior to the opening of the fair.
6. These exhibits will be judged on basis of general scorecard. All exhibits are to be removed by 4:00 pm Monday following the close of the fair. This includes clean up of exhibit area and removal of all nails tacks and staples from the booth frames. No electrical outlets available.
7. All booths should have numbered coupon showing department and division.
8. Where there is no competition second prize will be given if exhibit is meritorious. The following scorecard is to be used in judging the exhibits.
9. Anyone not having confirmation by the president of the fair association by opening day gives up the right to their reserved booths.

The Etowah County fair association offers cash prizes on collective community and county displays to be exhibited under the following conditions:
1. These exhibits are to represent some aspect of our American way of life, God and Country. In order for the judges to judge how well the organization exhibiting it will be necessary for the exhibiting organization to designate a theme for the exhibit. This year's theme will be
2. Products shown in exhibit must be superior quality and attractively displayed.
3. The cost of materials and labor incident to the complete display is to be borne by the exhibitors or the organization fostering the display.
4. All such community and county displays shall be made and exhibited in an assigned space in the exhibit building. Said exhibit and display will be erected, arranged and decorated without outside professional assistance, following the plan of showing the resources of the county or community, together with practical educational features portraying community and home life, rural or urban.
5. Each exhibit should be organized to tell a story. Must be completed by 4:00 pm Monday prior to the opening of the fair.
6. These exhibits will be judged on basis of general scorecard. All exhibits are to be removed by 4:00 pm Monday following the close of the fair. This includes clean up of exhibit area and removal of all nails tacks and staples from the booth frames. No electrical outlets available.
7. All booths should have numbered coupon showing department and division.
8. Where there is no competition second prize will be given if exhibit is meritorious. The following scorecard is to be used in judging the exhibits.
9. Anyone not having confirmation by the president of the fair association by opening day gives up the right to their reserved booths.
